Color Pour 3D: Liquid Sort

Color Pour 3D is a spatial color-sorting puzzle mobile game designed to test logic and problem-solving skills. Players pour colored liquids between test tubes until each container holds a single uniform color. Engineered in Flutter with custom rendering routines for smooth liquid dynamics and instant responsiveness.

The Problem & Engineering Goals

Casual puzzle games often suffer from clunky physics, high battery consumption, and visual stuttering on mid-range and low-tier Android hardware. The goal was to build a lightweight, visually attractive puzzle game that maintains consistent 60 FPS frame rates without taxing device resources.

Architectural Solution

Leveraged Flutter's high-performance canvas drawing combined with custom mathematical curves to simulate liquid meniscus tilting and pouring arcs without heavy external 3D engines, drastically reducing APK size and CPU overhead.

Key Implemented Features

Smooth liquid pouring animations with custom shader-like gradient fill logic
Progressive level difficulty algorithm with undo mechanics and bonus tube unlocks
Haptic feedback integration on critical pour actions for enhanced tactile satisfaction
Dynamic sound effects synchronization matching liquid flow velocities
Optimized memory footprint for low-end to high-end Android smartphones
Offline-first game architecture requiring no constant internet connection

Hands-on Engineering Scope

Sole developer and designer responsible for end-to-end realization: conceptualized game mechanics, wrote the level validation logic, designed the tube and liquid visual assets, implemented pouring physics algorithms, debugged device-specific rendering artifacts, and successfully published the production build to Google Play.

Technical Challenges & How We Solved Them

Challenge 1:Rendering fluid-like liquid pour angles without lag on older Android devices.

Solution: Avoided expensive physics engines in favor of trigonometric bezier curve interpolation computed on-the-fly, retaining fluid 60 FPS performance on devices with limited GPU power.

Challenge 2:Managing game state transitions (undo, restart, tube selection) predictably.

Solution: Implemented an immutable state stack pattern that records tube snapshots, allowing multi-step undo operations with zero state corruption.
